A trained Ethno-Archaeologist, Jasmine Bonning is experienced in methodological and philosophical trends in contemporary anthropological perspectives. Her research interests lie in ancient burial rituals of the ancient British Isles and Northern Europe. Jasmine is currently working on anthropological perspectives on the significance of colour in archaic ritual.
Jasmine gained her MA in Archaeology and Social Anthropology from the University of Edinburgh, summa cum laude. In a considered attempt to reconnect with the authentic worldview of our ancestors, she has chosen to explore the use of colour in archaic ritual and ancient magical practice, while she also interested in European megalithic culture and in the phenomenology of the prehistoric mind. She has been invited to present a paper on her archaeological findings at the 2010 conference of the European Association of Social Anthropologists.
We write extensively on these subjects, and have written a series of articles on prehistoric ritual for a popular magazine. Archaeosophia was also invited to submit a piece on the subject of megalithic Britain for an upcoming book, produced by an award-winning film-maker and author. In addition to these specialised studies in the fields of anthropology and ethnography, we have worked on site, on archaeological excavations in Scotland and abroad, concentrating on the remote Palaeolithic and more the recent Bronze and Iron Age eras, in an endeavour to bring to light meaningful information about the cultural practises of British ancestors. Jasmine has also worked with commercial archaeologists and was involved in discovering Scotland’s only Iron Age cobbled road, and helped bring the largest ‘royal’ roundhouse in Scotland to light.
We cover all aspects of excavation, post-ex, curation, philosophy and methodology of Archaeology, including Phenomenology and meta-physics.
Archaeosophia also writes for publication in the fields of archaic religion, mythology and magic. Our research interests also include folklore, history and Scottish ethnology.
